Even though I enjoy cooking, when it’s hot and humid all I want to do is throw something together quickly. Something simple and quick to make must also be delicious. As you well know, we have incredibly high standards regarding culinary delights. This Chinese dish of pork and green beans stir-fry satisfies that and more.
While this stir-fry has few fancy ingredients, it packs a powerful flavor punch.
Ingredients:
For the Pork & Marinade:
- 8 ounces of ground pork
- 2 tablespoons of water
- 2 tablespoons of minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon of Shaoxing wine
- 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of dark soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
For the Rest of the Dish:
- 450g of green beans (chopped to ½-inch pieces)
- 4 red chopped chilies (optional)
- 3 tablespoons of oil (divided)
- 1/2 finely diced red bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons of minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons of water1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground white pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon of salt (to taste)
Instructions:
- Mix all the marinade ingredients with the ground beef. The meat should be stirred until all of the liquid has been absorbed. Allow the ingredients to marinate for 15 to 20 minutes.
- In a wok, warm 2 tablespoons of oil over moderate heat. Chopping the green beans and adding them is a great idea. The beans should be mixed and then spread out in a single layer. Put it in for 30 seconds of cooking time. Until the green beans are faintly browned, wilted, and cooked through, stir and repeat the spreading process many times.
- Reduce the temperature if necessary to prevent burning. The green beans will be ready in about 5 minutes. Add a few drops of water every time you stir to generate steam and speed up the cooking process. Put the finished green beans in a serving dish.
- It’s time to crank up the heat on the wok and toss in 1 tablespoon of oil. Throw in some ground beef and let it become nice and browned. Give the meat a chance to brown and crisp without constantly stirring it. As soon as the meat has browned, turn the heat down to medium.
- Next, throw in some garlic, pepper, and hot sauce. Saute for one minute on high heat. Cooked green beans, a bit of salt (to taste), a pinch of ground white pepper, a tablespoon of light soy sauce, a teaspoon of sugar, and a teaspoon of sesame oil.
- Finally, with the heat turned up high for the last 10–15 seconds, stir-fry the food and then serve.
