Maple Roasted Nuts

November 19, 2022

Sometimes I just don’t feel like preparing meals.

Yes, actually. If you’re one of the many people who shakes their head slowly in disbelief when you hear that someone spent hours in the kitchen making and photographing their food, know that you’re not alone.

The mess left in the kitchen after dinner is enough to make me want to leave my place sometimes. Especially when you’re trying to make a dessert while getting everything into the pot and stirring “constantly.”

Because of this, today’s topic is brief but crucial: a snack that may also be used as a savory or sweet topping. It keeps well for many days in your favorite tupperware and can be used in everything from salads and baked goods to cereal, yogurt, ice cream, and more in your most slothful moments.

When you just don’t have the energy to get out of bed and make yourself a bowl of cereal, grab a handful of these sticky, nutty, sweet, and slightly salty maple-roasted nuts and munch them yourself. The salt gives this maple variation a “salted caramel” quality that has never been attained with healthier ingredients before.

More importantly, though, they are so easy to whip up that you won’t even need much time.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups of walnuts, pecans, almonds
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup of maple syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Toast the nuts in a dry wok or skillet over medium heat, turning regularly, for three to five minutes.
  2. After 3-5 minutes of stirring, add the maple syrup and salt.
  3. Serve with a garnish of sesame seeds.
