INGREDIENTS:
- spicy yogurt dressing
- 5 grilled spice pork patties
- Asian slaw, or toppings of your choice
- 8-10 slider buns
GRILLED CHINESE 5-SPICE PORK:
- 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
- one lb. (400 g) ground pork
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon Chinese 5-spice powder
- 3 tablespoons honey or sugar
- 2 teaspoons fish sauce
- 3 dash ground white pepper
SPICY YOGURT DRESSING:
- one to two tablespoon chili sauce or Siracha
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt/ low-fat mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
- salt and pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Mix the pork patties ingredients in a bowl. Set aside for an hour to marinate.
- You can make pork patties about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter from oversized golf balls. Wait to start grilling until you’re ready.
- Toss together the Asian Slaw or any other toppings of your choice, and serve.
- Preparation of the Spicy Yogurt Dressing is essential. Mix all the ingredients and adjust the pepper, salt, and other seasonings to your preference before serving. Keep in the refrigerator for later use.
- Preheat the oven broiler/grill to a high temperature. Depending on how well-charred and cooked, the patties should be grilled for 5 to 7 minutes on each side. When the grill pan is smoking hot, spray a little oil. After taking them out of the oven, you may assemble the sliders. Instead of cutting each patty in half, you can do what I did and make two patties out of one.
- On the buns, spread the Spicy Yogurt—place one-half of the split pork patty on each bread to assemble the sliders. Gently place the top half of the bread over the Asian Slaw or your preferred toppings. Serve.
